Community Groups

When: Sundays 5-6:15 pm.

Where: Meet in the student room for announcements and hang out before we break off into Community Groups.

Why: We desire for our students to see that through salvation in Jesus Christ, they have new identities. The four identities that we want our students to grow in are: Family, Servants, Disciples, and Witnesses (Acts 2:42-47).

  • Family: In Christ, we are adopted into God’s family (Rom. 8:15). He has given us a new status of sonship before him. Along with our status before him, he has also drawn us into a local church family. In Community Group, the students will have the opportunity to love each other, bear one another’s burdens, take responsibility for each other, do life together, worship together, and encourage one another with the good news of Jesus Christ.
  • Servants: In Christ, we are called to humbly give of ourselves to each other (Eph. 5:2). We are called to sacrifice for each other as Christ has sacrificed himself for us. In Community Groups students will find many opportunities to serve on another and serve in other areas at PVCC.
  • Disciples: In Christ, we are now given a new heart and desire to be like Christ (Ezekiel 36:22-28). In Community Group students will have the opportunity to grow in Christ-likeness by hearing the gospel, discussing scripture, confessing sin, sharing suffering, and being challenged to pursue Christ through the spiritual disciplines.
  • Witnesses: In Christ, we are given a command to go into the lost world and make disciples (Matthew 28). In Community Group students will challenge each other to share Jesus Christ with lost students at school. They will also plan missions opportunities to go together as a group and share Jesus Christ with the lost.
